The Alice Lind Play Reading Society

In a collaborative effort, the Lind House Association and the State Street Theater Company will host the Alice Lind Play Reading Society series on the third Tuesday of every month at the historic Lind House located at 622 Center Street, New Ulm, MN.

The Society is dedicated to the idea that reading and listening to play occasionally allows the participants to understand the words and themes of the author more clearly than in performance. The series is named after the former Governor’s wife, Alice Lind who was a supporter of social causes and literacy.

Hanska native and retired English teacher, Gene Brand, will lead the Play Reading. Volunteers are asked to read parts throughout the evening. Roles may be read by several people for each act or scene. Persons attending do not have to read or may request smaller roles to read. Suggestions from the public for future plays are strongly encouraged. Attendance is FREE.

To make reservations, contact Gene, State Street Theater Company, at (507) 226-3123. For more information about the Lind House Association, call Trudy at (507) 354-8802.  If you would like to be on the monthly mailing list, please email us at statestreettheater@gmail.com.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
